9/07 -Jim McNiece of Wichita Northwest High School: Kansas Metlife Secondary Principal of the Year 2007!


6/07- Principal of the Year 2007

     Milton Wallace, Principal of Longview High School was selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals as the Region 7 Outstanding Principal of the Year. TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the twenty region Education Service Centers in the state. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based on upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership. Mr. Wallace was recognized during the Opening General Session of the annual TASSP Summer Workshop on June 13th at the Austin Convention Center. He received the plaque in the picture above.

5/07- Dan Besett from Wilson H S in Tacoma, WA reports that Wilson had a French Teacher, Betina Stanley, receive a Golden Apple Teacher of the Year award.

5/07- Congratulations to Kittie Weston Knauer from Scavo Campus in Des Moines.

She is retiring after 30 years in Education.

This extraordinary article captures her indomitable spirit and considerable service.
Rest assured, while Kittie is retiring from this job, we have not seen the last of her in education!

5/07- Congratulations to Jon Kellett from Stadium High School in Tacoma, WA who has recently been named Association of Washington School Principals' Principal of the Year.


4/07- From Cheryl Bower at Sprague HS in Salem, OR:

The Sprague HS Advisory Team is the 2007 recipient of the Nancy Hargis Award for Leadership in Career Development.


3/07- Congratulations to Ross Gregory, the Principal at SPANISH SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL ...... RENO NEVADA PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR


3/07- Pickett academy leader Joseph Zatarain has been named the SAISD Council of PTA Principal of the Year for 2006 - 2007!


1/07- Tim Weis at Wetmore High School in Wetmore, Kansas writes:
Here is a bit of good news. We had a husband and wife in our community donate 60 lap top computers for our high school students, giving each of them one. When they graduate they pay $1 and will take the computer with them. As each freshman class comes in the Carson's will purchase them computers. I was so thankful for their thoughtfulness. They have leveled the playing field for all students no matter what their Socio-economic status.


1/07 - Nancy York at Fox Tech. in San Antonio writes: We had some great news before the holidays. We had a site visit from the National AVID Center and once again were named an AVID National Demonstration School. We received glowing reports on our team work and collaborative efforts. I was very proud of my teachers and all their hard work to reach their goal.


11/06- Partnership Principal David Kapher, from Boone Iowa, has told us that
Boone High School was selected this past week to participate in the Iowa High School Project. They were selected by the DOE to participate in the Model School program.


10/06- Todd Evans of Sebetha High School in Sebetha Kansas is the KASSP Kansas Area 1 2006 Principal of the Year


10/06- Todd Whitney of Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia reports his school has received a Small Learning Community Implementation Grant which will provide support to his school over the next 5 years


6/06- New Partnership newcomer Southwest High School in Southwest Independent School District in San Antonio, TX is receiving the Texas Governor's Award for it's exemplary Fine Arts Program. Charlene Walden is the Principal at Southwest.


4/06- Mary Jean Sandall in Salem received the Pink Jacket “Making It Happen Award” for Innovation in Technology from the International Society for Technology In Education (ISTE)


2/06- Nyssa High School (principal Ken Ball) , Oregon in East High School Des Moines
          (principal Mike Zelenovich) and Marshalltown High Schools in Iowa (principal            Bonnie
Lowry) were selected by William Daggett to participate in his study of 75
           promising high schools in the nation. This will involve a 5-year study of successful
           practices moving toward a model school designation.


12/05 - Donna Marshall from Cleveland High School and is a recent recipient of a Milken award which is very prestigious. It also awards the principal $25,000.00.
